In Humanities class today, we were briefly viewing cultures in the pre-modern world, and religion came up. In writing notes, I wasn’t sure quite how to write down the word GOD. Should it be written as God or god? In many cases, it should have been god.

Later I thought about that…we capitalize the word God because that’s what we use to describe God in a way that honors Him. We capitalize the first letter of words that refer to Him, because it is worth capitalization.

But why do we capitalize the word Satan? It is a proper name, yes; but should it be capitalized? In my book, it should not. If we have the right to capitalize God, then we have the right to decapitalize satan. satan is the lowest of the low, and we give him too much power. he’s helpless. I’m no longer going to capitalize his name or any other name that refers to him. Notice how I even did not capitalize his name or antecedent two and three sentences ago, even though it was at the beginning of the sentence. I’m starting something new…demote his name in every way. Make his name stand out in its humble form that it is, even to the point of conspicuous suspicion. Who’s with me?
